How to Renew Your Driving License in Lebanon
What you need, where to go, and why the renewal cannot be completed online.
Overview
When a Lebanese driving license expires — private or public — the holder must renew it at the same centre that issued it. Renewal is a separate procedure from a first application: the file is smaller, but attendance in person is required, and two of the documents have to be recent.
Can You Renew a Driving License Online in Lebanon?
No. The Traffic Management Authority requires the holder to attend in person, and the renewal is completed at the centre that issued the original license. What you can do without leaving home is check exactly what to bring: the renewal document list can be consulted without booking an appointment first.
Because attendance is personal, someone else cannot complete the renewal on your behalf.
Documents Required to Renew
A renewal file is made up of six documents. Two of them carry a three-month recency window, so collect those last:
- Your expired driving license.
- A judicial (criminal) record dated within the last 3 months.
- A blood-type card or statement.
- A medical certificate issued by the Physicians' Syndicate, bearing your photo, dated within the last 3 months.
- A copy of your ID card, a civil registry extract, or a copy of your passport.
- Two passport-size photos certified by the Mukhtar.

A renewal must be done at the centre that issued the original license — you cannot switch to a different branch for convenience. Lebanon's Traffic Management Authority centres, known to everyone as Nafaa, are:
- Dekwaneh — Mount Lebanon (Metn)
- Jounieh — Mount Lebanon (Keserwan)
- Aley — Mount Lebanon
- Al-Ouzai — Beirut suburb
- Saida (Sidon) — South
- Nabatieh — South
- Tripoli — North
- Zahle — Bekaa

What Does Renewal Cost?
The Traffic Management Authority's renewal service sets out the required documents but does not publish a renewal fee. Several documents in the file carry their own separate charges — the judicial record, the medical certificate, the blood-type card and the Mukhtar certifications — so the total depends on what you still need to obtain. Confirm the current amount at the centre before you go.
